LUMI – Promoting Diversity Acceptance and Wellbeing

LUMI (Learning to Understand Myself and be Inclusive) offers a proven, evidence-based programme that helps primary school teachers strengthen self acceptance and acceptance of diversity directly in the classroom, thereby sustainably improving the school climate and children’s wellbeing.

Meet the LUMI Team

LUMI was developed by an interdisciplinary team of researchers with expertise in developmental psychology, diversity research, and educational practice. The team combines strong scientific foundations with close collaboration with primary schools.

Christopher Osterhaus, Professor of Developmental Psychology at the University of Vechta. His work focuses on socialcognitive development, self acceptance, and diversity in childhood.

Serena Lecce, Professor of Developmental Psychology at the University of Pavia. Her research addresses social cognition, perspective taking, and learning disabilities in educational contexts.

Joanna Smogorzewska, Professor of Education at the University of Warsaw. Her work focuses on peer relations, social cognition, and inclusive learning environments in schools.

Jana Warnke, researcher at the University of Vechta, contributes to programme development, implementation, and evaluation.

Cedric Staas, research assistant at the University of Vechta, involved in data collection, analysis, and the translation of research into classroom practice.
